+81 GALLERY – NEW YORK is pleased to represent its first exhibition with three Japanese artists and designers, Shun Kawakami, Gen Miyamura and Syoh Yoshida.
was born in 1977 in Tokyo. Kawakami is the founder of artless Inc., a graphic design consulting firm actively involved in a wide array of creative endeavors including art, design, branding, interactive, video, product, installation, and space production. In 2010, he won the Gold Award at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival for the work of TV channel in Finland (ch4).
was born in 1980 in Shizuoka, Japan. Miyamura graduated with a Master's Degree in Calligraphy from Niigata University. Miyamura employs a radical approach that sublimates the beauty of Bokusho, an abstract form of calligraphy. Miyamura is also an educator, teaching at universities in Japan. He has won a range of awards including the prize at Mainichi Shodo Exhibition & Association.
was born in 1984 in Nagoya, Japan. Yoshida graduated with a degree in Japanese paintings from Seian College of Art and Design, Department of Art Craft in 2004. He also completed a master’s degree in Japanese paintings in 2008 from Osaka Seikei University Department of Art and Design. His works have been exhibited among others, The National Art Center (Tokyo), Imura Art Gallery (Tokyo), and Harbor City (Hong Kong). He is a lecturer at Osaka Seikei University Faculty of Art and Design.
