WEEK Sho Shibuya September 27th - October 13th 2018 Opening Reception: September 27th 6-8pm +81 Gallery New York is pleased to announce WEEK, a solo exhibition of new works on paper, wood, mirror and installation by Japanese artist Sho Shibuya. This is Sho’s first exhibition at + 81 Gallery. WEEK is derived from Sho’s primary experience with the physical world. In 2015, he began to channel his stress through creating and painting “Katakana“ - Japanese weekly letterforms. Inspired by daily moments and create a series of artwork though simple typography, experimenting with different materials, he found peace through this execise and creating “Katakana“ became his weekly ritual. All series of installations created by different technique from painting to paper cut. Attempt himself that maintain minimal aesthetic with dynamic form. Born in Fukuoka Japan, In 2011 Sho moved to New York from Tokyo and began his career as an art director at such as Apple and Away.
