Here Is Today July 31st – August 12th Opening Reception: July 31st 6-8pm Hours: Wednesday – Sunday 12-7 pm 163 Plymouth Street Brooklyn, NY 11201 +81 Gallery is pleased to present Here Is Today, an exhibition of latest works by Brooklyn based artists Travis W. Simon and Joe Hollier. A snapshot of their recent focuses, the exhibition emphasizes the artists' dedication to hand crafted techniques with hand-drawn type, collage, illustration, and painting. Hollier inputs and outputs popular culture into idiosyncratic expressions, while Simon often creates a visually dynamic experience utilizing the preexisting structures such as storefronts. Crossing platforms from design to art, Simon and Hollier have cultivated a vibrant visual language that appeals directly to the viewer’ instinct. Travis W. Simon is a sign painter, designer and typographer in Brooklyn, NY. He has worked with Bon Appetit, Lululemon, Converse. His work is often derived from traditional sign painters, skateboard and bike culture and an overall respect for the hands-on old school methods. Travis’ exhibitions include the Lexington Armory show, Red Bull Studios NYC, and Harbor Gallery. Joe Hollier is a multi-disciplinary artist from Brooklyn. He studied design at the School of Visual Arts. Joe works as a freelance lmmaker, designer, director and artist. Joe likes to play with words, phrases, colors, images and scale, carefully assembling them into patterns. He has received recognition from Print Magazine as one of the top 20 designers under 30, and has worked with Paul Sahre, CNN, Nike Skateboarding, Sagmeister & Walsh, and the Lincoln Center.
